Mr. Fonda has worked as a litigation attorney since 1987 serving both injured persons and persons accused of causing injuries and their insurers. Mr. Fonda has tried cases in all trial levels in North Carolina in state and federal court and argued cases before the North Carolina Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. Before joining Speaks Law Firm in the spring of 2021, he worked for small firm with a broad general civil practice, a major regional insurance defense firm and his own firm, again representing both injured persons and persons accused of causing injuries. According to Martindale.com, Mr. Fonda’s peers rate him as having high legal ability and very high ethical standards. Mr. Fonda is licensed to try cases in the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of North Carolina. Mr. Fonda is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association and the New Hanover County Bar Association. Mr. Fonda’s work for both insured persons and for insurers gives him a unique perspective which is helpful in negotiations seeking the largest possible pre-suit settlements. Mr. Fonda is a 1987 graduate of the Wake Forest University School of Law where he served as solicitor (prosecutor) for the Honor Court. Mr. Fonda obtained his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Since 1987, Mr. Fonda has focused his continuing legal education in seminars on litigation and insurance issues.
Mr. Fonda has been happily married to his wife Mitzi since 1990. They have two adult daughters. He enjoys spending time with his family and two small dogs, kayaking, hiking, and reading history, theology, and sports related books. Mr. Fonda has been active in his church serving as Lay Leader, Sunday school teacher and occasionally substitutes for his preacher as a certified lay speaker.
