Regina Wheeler earned her B.A. degree with honors in Economics at UNC Chapel Hill where she was a James M. Johnston Scholar. Ms. Wheeler also earned her J.D. degree from UNC Chapel Hill School of Law, where she was a member of the Jessup International Law Moot Court team, the Holderness Moot Court Bench and Order of the Barristers. Following law school, Ms. Wheeler served as a law clerk on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Ms. Wheeler has been practicing law for over thirty years as a litigator and corporate attorney, with her extensive experience including private practice with a large, premier law firm and a boutique law firm as well as time spent in the international arena and in government and public service.
Ms. Wheeler is admitted to practice law before all State and Federal courts in North Carolina. She is a member in good standing of the North Carolina State Bar and the District Bar of Judicial District 6 covering New Hanover and Pender counties. She has served on the governing boards of the Spirit Square Center for Arts and Education, Mecklenburg Autistic Group Homes, the Davidson Community Players and the ADA Jenkins Center. Ms. Wheeler is a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Wilmington, NC, where she has served as a Verger, Lector and Lay Eucharistic Minister.
Ms. Wheeler has two daughters who are pursuing their PhDs – one at Northeastern and the other at Georgia Tech. She also has a son who is in undergraduate school at UNC Chapel Hill pursuing a degree in business.
