Have you ever wondered what premises liability is? Wilmington premises liability attorney R. Clarke Speaks explains this topic and more in this useful video.
In short, premises liability is what happens when you are injured on someone else’s property. This can include injuries caused:
- In a fall
- Due to a dangerous area that was not safe or properly maintained
- Due to a fire
Many times, these injuries occur because someone else did not maintain property in a safe manner. It is, in fact, against the law to not maintain property in a safe and reasonable fashion. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of the property owner to warn of dangers, including hidden dangers that a regular person would not easily see.
If a property owner does not satisfy this law and someone is injured on the property, then he is liable for the injury—and that injured person may be able to recover damages that result from the injury.
