How Do I File for Workers’ Comp in North Carolina?

After you’ve been injured at work, you should seek immediate medical attention. Even if you believe your injuries are minor, it’s important to receive a medical examination to protect your health and your rights.

Within 30 days of your accident, you should notify your employer in writing of your injury. Be sure to include your name, contact information, the time and date of the injury, where and how it happened, and the specifics of the injury.

After receiving written notification of your injury, your employer should file a claim on your behalf with the North Carolina Industrial Commission. You should then receive a notice of approval or denial of your claim.

If you have questions about any part of the workers’ comp claims process, our Wilmington, NC, workers’ comp lawyers are here for you every step of the way.
